I enjoy this cook book. I love to cook and there are many anticdotes that were used years ago that I found fascinating.

I love all of her books. I reminisce every time I read them. They are all a trip to the past and if I never cooked a recipe from them, the knowledge they empart is unbelievable. Fortunately, I have cooked a few of the recipes and they are excellent. This book's size is decieving, it is a tremendous amount of information!!!

Lots of charm

This is a charming little book with family type recipes and folklore. Some of the recipes are not beginner friendly. They lack specific amounts or detailed instructions. The Dropped Sugar Cookies did not turn out well for me-I had to rework the recipe to make them good. This booklet has "recipes" for (the italics are there because inexperienced cooks may struggle with the amounts to make the recipes work) Crab Cakes, rolls & biscuits, Chicken Pie, Brunswick Stew, and Lemon Pie Cake to name a few. There are really just 2 crafts in the book, one with gourds. There are 6 empty pages in the back, supposedly for your own heirloom recipes. I would have rather had more crafts etc. What's in the book is enjoyable and fun to read. Lots of folklore is included.
